How to make Your Home Look Great For Less

Add Cushions / Pillows

Adding cushions to your couch will create a different look to your couch and the room.Choosing different colors and styles will create a different feel.

If you have a black couch and add light colored cushions they will be stark in contrast and become a prominent feature in the living room and compliment the couch. However, if you prefer a more subtle warmer look, try adding darker cushions which will blend in more with the colors.

Some couches look great with numerous cushions creating a cosy look. Contrasting cushions can make your couch and living room look great.

If you want to make a statement with your furniture, opt for the dark/light color contrasts. If you simply want a subtle look, always blend your colors.

Rugs

A rug really can put the finishing touches to your living room, complimenting the furniture and couch.

The pattern design of the rug can change the mood of a room. A great way to compliment your furniture is too have a rug which is an alternative color. If you have a red rug and a brown couch each compliment each other. If your flooring is light try choosing a rug that is a color contrast.

Tables

A table should fit the room so you can walk around it.

Want to create a minimalist look?

Try having furniture with the same or very similar colors. The color white is a proven color for achieving this. Also make sure the furniture doesn't look “busy”.

Want to create a warm homely feel?

Choose dark colors and have lots of dark cushions. Also a fabric throw will add texture and warmth to the living room. Wooden tables give a natural look and don't forget to include a darker rug too. Add some red cushions too and a red throw – red is considered a darker color but it is a bright texture and stops your living room and furniture looking too dull.
