How to buy a sofa
Your leather sofa is the largest piece of furniture in your home. It's the focal point of the room and the starting point from which lots of design styles start. Most people keep their sofas for 5 to 8 years on average. That's longer then some people keep their cars.
It's a long time to have the same piece of furniture, but with just a bit of thought on your part before your purchase you can have a sofa you'll love for a long time. First off consider your budget and how long you plan to keep your sofa. If you're purchasing a sofa with the idea of holding onto it for 2 or 3 years then don't spend a lot of money.
Also, consider the usage the sofa will get. Is this a sofa for a dorm room? For use in a family room? A living room? Consider what furniture options you may want. Perhaps the size of the room your sofa is going into isn't large enough to accommodate many pieces of furniture.
Do we sell real Leather?
Yes. We sell both real leather (cow hide) and bonded leather, the next paragraph below explains what bonded leather is.
What is bonded leather leather?
You can save money when purchasing bonded leather. The difference between bonded leather and genuine leather is minimal, but the savings are not!Bonded Leather is created when real leather and man made materials are mixed together. This material exists because it allows furniture to be manufactured at a lower price for consumers. Bonded leather is durable and is easily cleaned. Bonded and real leather sofas both come with the same Pallucci warranty!
What are the best ways to remove stains for leather?
Leather does offer more protection against stains than fabric sofas but it can stain so here are some hints and tips for removing stains from leather furniture We offer a 5 year stain, rips and tears protection cover which is available when you purchase your sofa. If you do not have this5 year protection some of these suggestions may help.
Ink stains. Spray the affected area with hairspray, then wipe it off with a clean cloth. Ink can be extremely difficult to remove, so you may need to consult a leather-cleaning professional. Also an eraser can be used to remove fresh ink stains
Gum. Rub with a plastic bag of ice cubes to harden the gum, and then pull off the gum. For any residual gum, heat the area with a hair dryer and rub off the gum with a clean cloth.
Water based stains. Let the leather dry naturally. Keep the item away from heat sources, and restore its softness with a leather conditioner after it's dry.
Mildew stains. Mix 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) rubbing alcohol with 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) water. Moisten a cloth with the mixture and wipe the affected area. Leave it to dry.
Grease stains. Blot grease with a clean cloth. Sprinkle talcum powder or cornstarch on the affected area. Wait least 4 hours, then wipe off the powder. (Talcum powder and corn starch are said to work to fight grease in particular. Don't rub it into the grease, however. Instead let it sit on top of it for a good four hours.
Disclaimer: These methods are not guaranteed to work and you should test the products you use on an inconspicuous area before removing the stain from a prominent area.
