Environmentally Conscious Furniture: Making Smarter Choices for Your Home

Furniture plays an important role in our homes, but producing furniture also has an environmental impact. From harvesting raw materials and manufacturing to transportation and eventual disposal, every piece of furniture uses resources.

At Pallucci Furniture in Vancouver, we believe it is important to understand these impacts and look for practical ways to make more environmentally conscious furniture choices. We have discussed sustainability and modern furniture materials in a previous Pallucci blog, and we want to continue that conversation as new materials and manufacturing methods become more widely available.

Is Engineered Wood a More Sustainable Furniture Choice?

Engineered wood is produced using wood fibres, particles or layers that are bonded together to create strong, functional furniture panels. Because it can make efficient use of wood resources, engineered wood can be an alternative to using solid timber throughout a piece of furniture.

At Pallucci Furniture, examples of furniture incorporating engineered wood include our Wally Bedroom Collection, Wilma TV Stand and Wynne Side Table.

We don't believe sustainability should mean sacrificing style or affordability. Modern engineered-wood furniture can provide attractive designs for today's homes while making efficient use of available materials.

What About Sintered Stone Furniture?

Another modern material we have previously discussed is sintered stone. Our Topaz Dining Table is an example of this increasingly popular furniture surface.

Sintered stone is manufactured from mineral materials subjected to intense heat and pressure. Its strength, resistance to everyday wear and long lifespan can make durability an important part of the sustainability conversation. Furniture that lasts longer may also need to be replaced less frequently.

Pallucci Furniture's Approach

For us, environmentally conscious furniture isn't about making sweeping “green” claims. It's about offering Vancouver customers more choices and providing information about the materials used to make their furniture.

As furniture manufacturing continues to evolve, Pallucci Furniture Vancouver will continue exploring products that balance quality, durability, affordability, contemporary design and thoughtful use of resources.

At Pallucci Furniture, sofas are our specialty, but we believe every piece of furniture should be chosen with the future in mind. Quality, durability and thoughtful materials can help us make smarter choices for our homes and our environment.

Better Furniture. Smarter Choices. A Better Tomorrow.
