How to Host a Thanksgiving Meal Without a Dining Room

No dining room table, no problem! Don’t let that stop you from hosting the best Thanksgiving Dinner of your life! A lot of Vancouver condos do not have dedicated dining rooms. What they do have though, is fantastic living spaces often with beautiful views of the Vancouver skyline. Take advantage of the space you do have and customize it for the needs of your friends.

Start in the largest living space. Is your kitchen the biggest room of your home? What about your living room? Do you have an awesome patio? Make sure of the best socializing space and make the changes necessary to transform it into an entertaining space.

If you’re going to use your living room, invest in some comfortable floor cushions and a large, versatile coffee table. Use your kitchen counter as a buffet space, and then invite your friends to join you in the living room for a cosy dinner.

You can also use accent benches as additional seating. For example the Kativon Bench in grey, or the Bachwich storage bench - which doubles as additional storage!

If you’re going to use your kitchen, opt for additional bar stools, or a bistro set, and of course make dinner buffet style, instead of a seated meal.

To make sure that your guests mill around your apartment making use of all the available space, place different elements around the room. A cart with drinks in the living room. A cold beer cooler on the patio, appetizers and desserts in the living room, and the main course from the kitchen. By distributing the features around your apartment your guests won’t all congregate in the same area. Regardless of the space you have to entertain, enjoy the time you have with friends and family, and remember that the real meaning behind this long weekend is to thankful for home and community.
