Buying a place and purchasing new furniture. What to look for in terms of space in your new home.

So you have bought a place. Congratulations! If you haven't done your move yet, you may be contemplating on what furniture to keep, and what furniture to get rid of. Let's face it, when we move into a new space, there is a very large chance that much of our furniture just doesn't match or suit our new environment. Then comes the decision of what to get rid of, what to keep, and what to buy. In a previous blog we talked about going through each room of the house and make a list. That is truly the most important part. Your 'what goes' list, 'what stays' list, and 'what to buy' list. But there is an additional piece of critical information you need to have to make sure you fall in love with your house all over again the minute both your furniture arrives from the old house, and your newly purchased furniture arrives.

First off you want to make sure you are coordinating any mismatched pieces. Say you decide you want to keep your couch, but your old easy chair goes. Or maybe you decide you have some antique dressers that you want to keep but your bed frame is a write off. You don't want to create more work for yourself by getting your new furniture in, and realizing everything is completely mis-matched. What you want to do is take pics of your existing furniture when choosing new furniture so you have a very clear picture of the stain colors and you are able to pick out the furniture that will coordinate the best. The same goes with any furniture you don't currently have, but you want to buy, like side tables, hutches, end tables, and lamps.

The final step to ensuring you love your place and the furniture that's in it is making sure you are looking at your tastes, not just your budget and what works in that space. You want to make sure that it looks and feels like home for you. It also needs to be practical, so you will be able to get the most out of it for your home. This means that the type of fabrics you like for your furniture, the stains of wood that you like, and the style of furniture you like truly resonates with you. You want your home to feel inviting and warm to you so you can truly settle into your home. Look at pieces like your bed frame, your couch, and the places where you feel the most comfort to really feel like you having something you are excited about coming home to at the end of the day.

Here at Pallucci Furniture we can help you with one of the most exciting times of your life when moving into a new home by showing you around our showroom, giving you ideas, and helping you pick out the perfect pieces to make your home a home sweet home environment. That's what buying your new home is all about. We look forward to seeing you.
